Graham Lambkin's oeuvre has long explored the cracks which burnish the underside of contemporary music, poetry and visual art. His work teases the fragile threads connecting the psychotic, the absurd and the mundane; often bringing them to the point of near ruination.. Throughout his 20 year canon of published work, Lambkin has continuously played with the themes of horror in the everyday, whilst mocking the comical violence inherent in us all.

Millows throws light on a previously unpublished division of Lambkin's work: that of the ceaseless experimentation in self-portraiture. Dating from 2004, the Millows series employs the simple arsenal of camera, computer, printer and alcohol, to test the mettle of the author's personal frontiers. Through a simple process of image over-printing, Lambkin's profile is pushed through fields of distortion and false persona; the sickly wash of colour and chaos only returning to a state of relative calm once the ink cartridge expends its worth.

New 2011 edition of this cornerstone sound art collection, originally published in 1987 on LP by Igloo. "In most ethnic cultures, sacred places serve an important social function. The qualities, typical of these places, explain to western people the magic magnetism of these "holy grounds". During our international Logos Duo concert tours we have had the opportunity to visit quite a few of these places. Uluru, the "Shadowgiving Mountain" of the Aborigines, better known under its western name of Ayers Rock (Australia), impressed us more than any other. The presence of water and an enormous monolith in the midst of the vast desert plain is given as an explanation for its magical appeal. But to the Aborigines, each little place of the rock contains tracks of their ancestors, the "Dreamtime People", who live in this mountain and speak to them in the sounds of the winds howling through the crevasses and rockholes. Uluru is also the dwelling-place of the "World Serpent", the most powerful totem shared by the surrounding tribes. Sounds of Sacred Places attempts to transform the listener into a living witness of the sounds of similar places, not far away in any specific ethnic culture, but in Flanders". (Moniek Darge, 1987). Helm is the ambiguous solo moniker of London-based sound architect Luke Younger. Although, perhaps best known as one half of the pioneering avant-drone outfit Birds of Delay, it is in the more esoteric work of Helm that Luke's art takes on its most radical shape. 2010's debut LP To An End confirmed that in an age of fleeting trends and fly-by-night fancies, there were still a few old souls prepared to knuckle down and deliver the goods that people want to receive.

Cryptography carries forward that noble mindset, presenting a new five-part suite of expertly rendered electro-acoustic study. Using processed piano, Casio MT-40, cymbal and guitar strings Cryptography steers the Helm sound through a melange of fringe territories: glacial drone meditations, reconfigured gamelan clusters, and howling walls of organized feedback, all coalesced in classic UK post-industrial fashion. Indeed, had it been concieved of 30 years prior, it would be easy to imagine Cryptography winning a seat in the United Dairies, or Dom America catalog, such is its commitment to homemade exploratory zeal.

Cryptography was recorded at Highams Park, London 2009, with additional recording at No Recording Studios, London. Co-mixed, edited and mastered by John Hannon at No Recording, 2010. Cryptography arrives in a full color sleeve, with insert, in a hand-numbered edition of 400 copies.

The Rise of Elklink originally appeared as a cassette on the storied Polyamory label in 1999. Behind the ambiguous moniker lurked core Shadow Ring member Graham Lambkin, aided by Adris Hoyos with a cameo from fellow Shadow Ring bandmate Tim Goss. Although The Rise of Elklink was produced in tandum with The Shadow Ring's Lindus LP, the two projects were different in intent. Song form and narration are replaced by walls of quiet, crumbling vocal concrete, meaningless stoned monologues and adjacent audio seepage, captured to 4-track in the backroom of a small Cuban crèche in Miami FL.
This LP reissue restores all six tracks from the original cassette, and adds the Elklink contribution to the Colour In Absence Sound CD comp from the same year. Lovingly remastered by Jason Lescalleet at Glistening Labs, The Rise of Elklink arrives in a sleeve design based on the original j-card with a deluxe insert reproducing Brad Sonder's classic period review, in a hand-numbered edition of 500 copies.

Penultimate Press is proud to announce the publication of Dripping Junk- an all new collection of graphic work by Graham Lambkin. The 100 drawings gathered in Dripping Junk were made over a period of five days during a recent trip to Miami FL.

Lambkin's eye and pen guide us through a confusion of local observation. We find ourselves transported to the opulent sands of South Beach, the strip malls of Dade County, and the many tourists spots one would expect to engage. Yet Lambkin allows us to view these sites through his own distorted lens. This is not the Miami of common expectation. Lambkin throws us headfirst in to a hallucinogenic netherworld where logic and common sense cower in the shade of the palms. A world where fantasy and reality mix effortlessly and are drank as the cocktail of choice. A world where the skunk ape is king.

'Dumb Answer to Miracles' is the first official publication of writings by Graham Lambkin. Previously 20 copies of a signed private edition entitled 'Tomb of Speed' were circulated amongst friends, collegues and mail order customers. This collection gathers all the 'Tomb of Speed' writings, a handful of Lambkin's lyrics he wrote for the band Shadow Ring and many unpublished works.

These writings entertain as much as they baffle, happily wandering the glorious pastures of open bewilderment. The ordinary dons the fantastic, the uncanny flirts with the comical and a private world is open to those with an explorative constitution. What response can one gain from such writings? It's this uncomfortable familiarity or comforting unease that haunts the entire oeuvre of Graham Lambkin. The beautiful odd. The eldritch normality. The leek in milk sauce.
